International activity based on connectivity stimulates knowledge sharing
Budapest, 11 April 2024 – The Academy of European Law (Europäische Rechtsakademie; ERA), one of the most renowned legal training institutions in the international arena with a more than 30-year history, is holding its seminar on 11-12 April 2024 in Budapest, in cooperation with the GVH. The two-day training will focus on competition law updates and international experience on abuse of dominance. The active international involvement of the Hungarian Competition Authority (Gazdasági Versenyhivatal – GVH) ensure a wide knowledge sharing and contribute to the training of GVH staff.
The Academy of European Law (ERA), based in Germany, is a European training institute that provides legal practitioners with practical training in EU law and a forum for exchanging experience. This is achieved through the organisation of courses, conferences, and seminars in a wide range of areas of law, as well as through publications.
Over its nearly three and a half decades of history, the Hungarian Competition Authority has built up an extensive network of international relations, deeply rooted in the direct application of EU law and based on connectivity. This significantly supports the broad knowledge-sharing activities of the NCA and contributes to the continuous training of its staff. As part of this, the GVH, in cooperation with the ERA, organised an international knowledge-sharing training programme in Budapest for the second time after 2023.
The two-day training will focus on the latest case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union on the application of Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) but will also include a series of presentations on lessons learned from investigations into abuse of dominant position, remedies, and commitments. The training traditionally includes case studies. This year's themes are market definition, market power and dominance, and the assessment of abusive practices in digital markets.
Participants - staff of the GVH and its EU counterparts, lawyers, legal advisers - will deepen their knowledge of competition law through workshops and joint exercises with international legal experts and EU officials.
