Budapest, 5 August 2024 - Manker Beauty Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Kft. has actively cooperated with the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) during the proceeding. The GVH's Competition Council has decided not to impose a fine, taking into account the level of cooperation and the amount of the compensation that the company has agreed to implement and pay in full. All consumers concerned by the investigation will be compensated thanks to the GVH's procedure and the offer made by Manker Beauty.
In June 2022, opened an investigation has been launched by the Hungarian Competition Authority against a company primarily active in the sale of dietary supplements. The proceeding were initiated for alleged violations of the prohibition of unfair commercial practices against consumers.
The company subject to the procedure started to sell food supplements in July 2021. Shortly after the investigation started, the company improved and changed its previous communication practices.
Manker Beauty Kft. cooperated with the NCA during the procedure, including by admitting the infringement and waiving its right to appeal. The company undertook to compensate consumers affected by the infringement. It will pay HUF 1,000 to each consumer who purchased the products concerned between 15 July 2021 and 5 August 2022.
The GVH reminds the group of consumers that the company will only be able to pay the compensation if they reply to the company's e-mail in the near future and declare to which bank account they wish to receive the payment.
In addition, the company joined the Advertising Self-Regulatory Board during the procedure and as part of its compliance programme, it has undertaken to involve experts in all its communication and commercial activities. The NCA will monitor the correct and full implementation of the commitments made in a follow-up investigation.
