16 June 2023, Budapest – The summer session of the OECD's Competition Committee, the international organisation's "competition week", ended on Friday. At the bi-annual meeting of OECD member countries' competition authorities, the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) traditionally supports the joint work with active professional work and a number of country contributions.

On Friday 16 June 2023, the week-long summer session of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the OECD's "competition week", came to an end. For years, the GVH has been one of the most active participants in the Member States' competition authorities' roundtables, and this was again the case: the Hungarian authority presented national practices in the international arena in six different thematic areas (the future of leniency programmes, theories of harm for digital mergers, competition in the circular economy, impact assessments of the functioning of competition authorities and public annual reporting of competition authorities and the OECD-GVH RCC).

The cooperation between the Hungarian Competition Authority and the OECD in the field of competition law is not limited to the meetings of the Competition Committee: the two organisations have jointly run the Regional Competition Centre for Competition in Budapest since 2005, with the aim of building on the professional background of the two organisations to provide support in the field of competition law and policy, primarily to competition authorities in the countries of Eastern, South-Eastern and Central Europe. More information on the activities of the training centre is available on the websites of the Hungarian Competition Authority and the Regional Centre for Competition. A total of 30 judges from 16 countries attended the latest training in the Hungarian capital.

The GVH has traditionally strong international links and in 2022 it was able to play an even more prominent role in the global competition arena than before.

The experts of the national competition authority have shared their experience at numerous international events, and the GVH has earned important positions in the technical working groups of various intergovernmental organisations.

A detailed discussion on the areas, benefits, and forums of international cooperation between competition authorities and the active role of the Hungarian authority can be heard on the GVH's podcast channel.
