METRO CASH & CARRY INTERNATIONAL HOLDING GMBH

METRO Cash & Carry International Holding GmbH requested an authorisation from the Office of Economic Competition to purchase businesses by together 32 per cent in METRO Holding and the METRO Trading, owned by METRO Cash & Carry. As a result of purchasing those stakes, the content of control would change, since the joint control would be converted into a sole control over METRO companies. In the view of the Competition Council the alteration of control may affect the concentration and the vertical relations, furthermore the planned transaction would qualify as concentration under the Competition Act. However, in its decision the Competition Council held that the market structure remains unchanged and the economic competition wouldn`t be effected by the transaction either. The Competition Council gave the authorisation.
