5 May 2021, Budapest – The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) and the Prime Minister's Office have signed a cooperation agreement that will allow the two organisations to fight public procurement cartels even more effectively.
The aim of the cooperation agreement recently signed by the GVH and the Prime Minister's Office is to facilitate even more effective professional cooperation between the two organisations in order to ensure the fairness of public procurement procedures. Within the framework of this cooperation, the Prime Minister's Office will regularly inform the GVH whenever it detects signs of restrictive market practices while investigating public procurement procedures and the Competition Authority will, in turn, investigates the signals received. Under the agreement, the Prime Minister's Office will ensure that upon request, the GVH will have access to the data necessary for investigating suspected cartels stored in the Electronic Public Procurement System, which is overseen by the Prime Minister’s Office and is used for the organisation of public procurement and concession procedures.
In addition, the GVH will assist the employees working at the organisational unit of the Ministry responsible for the oversight and supervision of public procurement procedures in identifying the signs of cartel activity with the help of lectures held by the experts of the GVH specialised in cartel detection.
